BIO:

Max Bunyan plays guitar/piano and writes original music. His songs draw from work with Florida Parole and Probation, Metro-Miami Dade Corrections, Santa Fe Trail Community Corrections and the 41-year marriage to his first and only wife, Claudia Bunyan.

Max began singing as a youngster in Dodge City and continued through high school with his group, "The Medallions" (Robert Hunter, Jackie Johnston, Bill Callaway and Sondra Davis Marconnette).

Max minored in music and sang in the chorus at Dodge City Community College. He later attended Pepperdine College in Los Angeles, majoring in psychology, where he also continued singing in musical productions and with folk and jazz groups.

After his stint in the Army, Max worked as a photographer, journalist, news director and radio announcer, and then made a career in corrections.

Bunyan returned to performing music in 2004, inspired by his experience at The Kansas Cowboy Symposium in Dodge City. His first CD, Follow Your Heart, features twenty original songs.

Max Bunyan is a Professional member of

"Friendship Through Music"

I sang for three years with The United States 7th Army Soldiers' Chorus in Europe. This was a defining musical moment in my life.

General William W. Quinn (7th Army) provided the command support necessary for the successful achievement of our mission.

Primary Mission:

To encourage our US Military Personnel in Germany.

Secondary Mission:

To promote International Relations throughout the many communities and concert halls of Germany, France, Italy, Wales, Denmark, and The Netherlands (Holland).

This experience gave me a rich personal appreciation for choral arrangements, Broadway musical selections, traditional spirituals, military songs, and international flavors.

One night we might be singing for NATO officials in the Palace of Versailles....then pulling KP and scrubbing those pots and pans.

We sang several times on The Peter Frankenfeld Television Show in Berlin. Peter Frankenfeld was like the "Johnny Carson" of Germany. Peter Frankenfeld and his lovely wife, singer Lonny Kellner were such gracious hosts and always expressed their appreciation for our music.

Periodically... after performing for one of these celebrity events, we all might be assigned to various military details. I can remember carrying my rifle and patrolling an amunition depot on several cold winter nights.

One of my favorite times with the 7th Army Soldiers Chorus was our annual Christmas Tour, performing for our soldiers at the NIKE missile sites along the former Czechoslovakian border. I believe that where ever we sang, our American soldiers always enjoyed the warmth and humor of the songs we sang especially for them!
